Pretend for a few moments that we’re standing on the street in Jerusalem as part of the first Palm Sunday parade. The atmosphere is charged. People are pumped up. The noise is almost deafening. The crowd was cheering and shouting, even paving the streets with their own jackets and clothes, a custom usually reserved for famous military leaders returning to the city after a great conquest.
Why do we remember this event every year before Easter?
Because as Jesus rode into Jerusalem, that brief recognition declared to the world that God had kept his promises. Which promises did He keep? Watch, listen, or download the sermon notes to find out.
