Welcoming the World to Duncannon Assembly of God
Nestled amidst the stunning scenery of the Appalachian Trail about halfway between the Maine and Georgia starting points, Duncannon Assembly of God serves as a beacon of warmth and hospitality to hikers embarking on their journey. We’ve had the privilege of opening our doors to countless hikers from all corners of the globe, providing them with a place to rest, rejuvenate, and connect with our congregation and other fellow travelers.
June 25, 2023 A Memorable Encounter on the Appalachian Trail:
Pancakes and Fellowship
At Duncannon Assembly of God, we are delighted to have many groups of hikers stay overnight in our fellowship hall turned hostel.
But the recent visit from a group of hikers was particularly memorable.
Pancakes that Represent the Trail:
On Sunday, June 25, 2023, the hikers made breakfast in our kitchen, but it wasn’t just any breakfast. They made pancakes that looked like the logo of the Appalachian Trail and the trees that grow along the trail. We were amazed by their skill and effort. These pancakes reminded us of the beautiful sights that hikers experience on the Appalachian Trail.
Fellowship Without Boundaries:
After breakfast, the hikers joined us for our young adult Sunday school group and the morning service. We sang songs and listened to an inspiring message from Pastor Campbell. It reminded us that we are all connected as children of God, no matter where we come from or the challenges we face.
These hikers left a strong impression on us and showed us how special our connections with hikers on the Trail can be. We feel grateful to meet hikers from all over the world and learn from their stories, faith, and experiences.
